Pre-war Synchromatic 300, Gretsch's next-to-the-top-of the-line archtop, just behind the Synchromatic 400. (In Gibson terms, think L-5 compared to Super 400.) This 'un's a player, but a good 'un. It apparently (previous owner/dealer didn't know for sure) had a factorey refin and new neck installed in the '60s--consistent with many other Grestsches. (New neck is 25-1/2" scale; original would probably have been 26".) Look at the thumbprint inlay fingerboard, headstock shape and T-roof logo. This has '60s Grover Imperials which originally had that era's aesthetically loathsome kidney-bean buttons (not included) which I have replaced with some much more satisfying pearloid stairstep buttons. Bridge is a period Gretsch-made replacement--just not original to this guitar. As with all-multi-bound Gretsches, this has some gaps (13-plies) and some tucks and repairs--stable but visible.
Only reason I'm selling this is I managed to wrangle a completely original version of this same model, a few serial numbers younger. I've tested them side-by-side and they're for all intents and purposes identical sonically. Both outstanding. Serial number in the mid-300s; comes with a recent generic TKL hardshell case.
$90 Priority Mail shipping in the USA; actual cost elsewhere.
If this doesn't sell at this very reasonable price, I'll be sorely tempted to give it away to my best junior-high school guitar buddy and mentor.
