Comes with a signed certificate from Duke and an autographed CD, Tales from the Tiki Room...Duke used this guitar on that CD!!
Circa 1950 Gretsch Synchromatic with electric K + K pickup.....Offered by Duke Robillard
This circa 1950 Gretsch archtop is from Duke Robillard’s private collection and comes with a certificate of authenticity, signed by Duke.
It looks like the label has a serial number of 4786 (red stamped ink). And possibly 'model 300'.
This fat vintage archtop is in vintage-very-good to vintage-excellent condition. While it has had some restorative work done on some of the binding, there are no other major repairs to speak of. It had a K + K pickup mounted under the bridge and has had a jack cleverly installed in the tailpiece. It sounds fantastic and Duke says this is the “best acoustic pickup he has heard”. Excellent vintage archtop acoustic jazz tone. I notice one pice of binding is starting to lifet below the pickguard.
The guitar is set up perfectly and has had a new set of Dunlop large frets installed. It really plays perfectly over the whole neck with excellent action. The guitar is ready to take to your traditional jazz or acoustic blues gig and plug in…needs nothing.
The lower bout is 17.25 inches. It has what is believed to be the original tailpiece and bridge (or at the very least they are period correct). The tuners were replaced by very cool gold Pat Pend grovers which work perfectly. Label is visible in the cat eye f-hole but is hard to read. Pickguard is the best available, hand-made by a luthier in New England.
The finish is original and in very good condition, with normal player marks, scratches, and dings here and there. It has a great retro vintage look.
Super nice playing guitar with a lot of vintage character.
