Set the way back machine.......Here's a cool huge bodied 1951 Gretsch 6014 archtop. Label inside reads: The Fred Gretsch Mfg Company, Brooklyn 11, NY, Model 6014, Serial 49xx. Natural, appears to be an older refin. Was in the process of being turned into an old Gretsch-meets-new Gretsch hybrid electric by the previous owner (who inherited the guitar from it's original owner, his father), with the parts used being current model Gretsch Synchromatic floating mini humbucker pickup and Gretsch Synchromatic pickguard with stock mounted tone and volume controls. He never drilled the hole for the jack (I couldn't bring myself to do it either, couldn't decide between the side, the top, the end pin or the pickguard for the jack placement), so at this point the two holes for the floating pickup and the two holes for the pickguard could be filled and she's still an acoustic if that's what you prefer. I myself would go ahead and finish the project, seeing as the parts used are from the newer Syncromatic model line. There's been some binding repairs along the neck, and she'll eventually need some more between the two bouts (see pic # 5) though that area is sturdy for the time being, binding issues seem to be almost typical on these old Gretsch pieces. A epoxy filled screw or dowel hole is just visible at the 14th fret, indicating possibly a neck reset or fretboard repair at some point. Some finish has worn away from the rear of the neck, there's a rash area on the top between the lower F hole and the tailpiece(see pic # 8), and the headstock overlay has shrunk a bit. Includes a sturdy non original hardshell case that fits the guitar like a glove. The knobs are Gibson style replacements, one of the stock Gretsch knobs was missing. I put the electric parts back on just for the photo session, but have been using her unplugged for a couple years. I need to fund a flat top acoustic, so a couple guitars have to leave the herd. She does have a couple issues, I've tried to catch all of them for you. This is a great archtop, if you've got the skills, she's an easy project.
Sold as a project in as is condition, with all issues known by me clearly stated. Sorry no returns on my vintage gear. Sold and shipped to Pay Pal buyers in the Continental USA and Canada only. I strive to be an honest seller, check my feedback.
