This auction is for a 1960 Gretsch 6125 Single Anniversary model guitar (2 tone green) with case and roller bridge adjustment instruction card. To the best of my knoweldge, this guitar and case are all original. It is in incredible condition, as you can tell from the photographs. The frets are in great shape, it plays very well, and it sounds fantastic. The case is in very good condition.
The "bad" things about the guitar are :
1) There are a few chips on the end of the headstock. I tried to show this in the pics.
2) The end pin/strap button on the bottom of the guitar is bent. I bought it this way and never tried to straighten it. It takes a strap just fine. I tried to capture this in the pics.
3) There are a couple of small cracks on the pick-up ring, next to the screw holes.
4) There is a slight buzzing/rattling sound when played acoustically. It sounds like the pickguard might be rattling a little againt the body or something like that. It is not something that is heard when amplified or when playing with a lighter touch. I never really tried to find out exactly what causes it because I always played amplified.
5) There is only 1 section of binding, next to the neck/body joint, that shows you're typical old-Gretsch cracking. The rest of the binding is actually in excellent condition, especially for a Gretsch from this era.
I don't mean to scare away anyone with these "bad" things. But I try to disclose all I can so as not to mislead anyone.
Now, this was and still is the best looking 6125 Gretsch I have ever seen. It took me 2 years of looking to find this guitar, as I didn't just want an old beat-up Gretsch. I wanted a vinitage 6125 as close to "new" as I could find...this guitar was it...not perfect, but considering it's age, incredible condition. Unfortunately, because the guitar is in such good condition I never wanted to play out with it. And that's why I'm selling it. I need something "not quite so nice" that I can take out and play without worrying too much about it getting damaged, nicked, scratched, ect.
