Vintage 1962 Gretsch Anniversary Smoke Green!
Lightly Played All-Original Condition!
This '62 Gretsch Anniversary was played for the first few years of it's life, then spent more than 40 years unplayed. It still had 40+ year old flat wounds on it when I got it, and a "new" pack of 40+ year old flatwounds is included, too (I put new nickel-wounds on it for now). There's even a vintage Gretsch black "skinny" strap inside the case! Gretsch introduced the Anniversary models in 1958 to commemorate the company's 75th anniversary. The single pickup version was available in sunburst (6124) and smoke green 2-tone (6125) finishes. This 6125 is completely original condition, but the pickguard was broken in half and is currently superglued together. It will come apart again soon, I'm sure. The bindings and rim area around the joint show some very slight separations, pretty typical for vintage Gretsch archtops, and all appear to be stable at the present time. The 2-tone smoke green finish is in beautiful condition front and back, and the top has a couple of dozen vertical finish cracks randomly distributed. The back has a couple of small scratches and minimal buckle marks, while the sides, back of the neck, and peghead are in remarkable condition. The frets are a little dirty, but show very light play wear and are in great shape, no attention necessary. All hardware is in excellent condition and the control and switch work smoothly. The HiLo 'Tron pickup delivers that great Gretsch sound. Action and playability are terrific, and unplugged this single "Annie" plays brightly and sweetly, almost doubling as an acoustic guitar.
The Anniversary features a single HiLo 'Tron pickup and an unbound 21-fret rosewood fingerboard with bass-side thumbprint inlay. Other features include multi-bound top and back, "G"-tailpiece, space-control roller bridge, raised pickguard with logo, chrome-plated hardware, and open-back Grover Statite tuners. The unbound peghead has a logo inlay and model nameplate to complete the look. The volume control knob is located on the upper treble bout and the 3-way tone switch (the "mud switch") on the upper bass bout. The Anniversary is 16" wide and about 2 3/4" deep at the rims with a 24 1/2" scale length. It will ship in a soft case for protection.
