Gretsch 6123 Monkees Limited Edition R&R Model

Here is a great piece of history. The '67
Gretsch 6123! It was made solely
for Monkees fans, but since most of their following were teenie bopper
girls,
this guitar obviously didn't sell very well. That makes it a rare item
because
there weren't many made & it was only in production for 2 years. It's
still a Gretsch
& has the quality of a Streamliner which replaced this in 1968.
I purchased it from an estate sale in New York.

Everything seems to be original. It looks
like the nut & the monkees truss rod cover were replaced. Looks very
authentic though. Everything else from the bridge to the 2 SuperTron
Pickups are completely original. The case is a Gretsch from the 60's so
I'm assuming it's the original. One of the latches is broken but the
other 5 work.

The frets are pretty worn & the intonation
needs adjusting. I took it to a luthier & he said everything is very
solid. Because of the bindings I was worried about the neck and he
assured me that it's solid & the bindings are an easy repair. If you
like the fets low than this is ideal, but you would have to adjust the
intonation. I know nothing about luthier work at all. All the
electronics work great, switches pots, etc.

Comes with the original Gretsch ad from
1967.
