Original vintage 1981 Greco Super Power Custom, made in Japan, by Fujigen-Gakki which is known for making most of the high quality lawsuit guitars as well as some of the best guitars for the local market. The serial number is 1 5505 (1 for 1981, production number 5505) which puts the guitar in the best production year for the Greco collector. Very high quality built guitar, in excellent condition, and only weighs about 8lbs.
1-piece non-chambered mahogany body with a 1/2" thick 3-piece maple top (which looks carved to me, see photo). There are only light playwear marks, and no big dings. The binding is in terrific shape. This guitar is all original but for the pickguard (holes filled).
Bound set neck (1-piece mahogany) is straight, medium profile, plays fast. The original jumbo frets are in great shape, with probably 90% remaining (see photo). The headstock inlays are genuine mother-of-pearl.
Original hardware shows some normal fading and pitting wear. Greco-stamped tuners.
Original pick ups and pots (included) were professionnaly replaced by a set of new Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates humbuckers (SH-PG1 bridge and neck, original SD packaging included) and all new CTS 500K pots. With these pick ups, the guitar growls and is a pleasure to play.
Sold with Epiphone HSC in excellent condition.
