Please let me take a few minutes to describe this sweetheart. I would have never thought I'd ever offer her for sale but the addition of a few new (to me) guitars, here she is. This is a 1992 400CV in rare Blonde Finish. Most of these are in sunburst. There is much history here as in 1992 these were a combination of American and Japanese parts but manufactured superiorly in Japan. Gretsch lists it as an acoustic guitar although it has the wonderful electric Filtertron pickup. The sound is beautiful when played either way.
It is a single cutaway hollowbody with an ebonized rosewood neck and split humped block inlays. It features a neck pickup volume and tone and an original Bigsby Vibrato ("V" in serial number) and cat-eye sound holes.
Every aspect of the guitar is 100% and in near mint condition. There are two finish flaws and I pictured both. One is to left of the Bigsby tail piece and the other is almost the small size of a "pen head" to the right of the cat-eye sound hole. Both are scratches only not deep. I'm being very particular and would rate it a 9 / 10 but beleive in full disclosure. (The carpeting may reflect and make the finish look odd in some places. It is all based on the reflection and the camera, not in the guitar finish. Again, the finish is stunning.) The neck is dead true and the frets are in top condition with absolutely no buzzing. The action is comfortably low (for me) but can be set properly to any preference. The intonation is dead on. Recently, the top Luthier in Pgh, Manella Guitars, put this through his shop and again everything is 100%. The blonde features of the finish are stunning. The front and back in can just captivate you. The twenty year old woods sound unlike no new guitar you can purchase!!
Please understand that this is not the lesser valued (but still great) Korean made model and was also Pre-Fender ownership of Gretsch. Its worth every penny and will only climb in value which I would value at $2100+ (Blonde Finish is a big add on). Shipping will be USPS ground (packed and insured safely) and prefer not to ship out of USA but we can discuss that option. I usually ship within 2 - 3 days of payment. Thanks for looking!
