An exceptional, museum quality example of Bauhaus era German porcelain. The mocca service consists of 6 cups /saucers, mocca or espresso pot, cream and sugar. The cups are 1.3 inches tall with 6 inch saucers and the pot is 5.5 inches tall. This is a vintage example, circa 1940. All pieces are in mint condition.
This service was design by the long year artistic director of the porcelain atelier, Arzberg, Hermann Gretsch. It is known as the 1382 form service. It is the perfect example of a time less, sleek, clear from and was a distinct departure from the decorative styles of traditional designs. This design was awarded a gold medal at the Milan Triennale in 1936 and was curated for the Museum of Modern Art (NY) in 1950 where it was a part of the "Good Design" exhibition.
