A beautiful and all original …

1973 Gibson Dove

DESCRIPTION: The Gibson Dove
was first introduced in 1962 as an up-market alternative to the popular
Hummingbird model, and one of the most ornate production flattop guitars ever
produced by Gibson. The first Dove guitars to leave the Gibson factory sported
a Natural finish, and besides the top-of-the-line J-200 was the only other
Gibson flattop with sides made of curly maple. Despite their beauty, more than
three Hummingbirds were produced for every Dove guitar, with blonde examples
being the rarest of all. The guitar exploded in popularity during the mid-1970s
when Elvis Presley began using the Gibson Dove on stage during his legendary
performances. With its elaborate hand-inlaid and engraved pickguard and bridge,
desirable x-bracing and square-shouldered dreadnought body, the Gibson Dove has
remained a favorite with both players and collectors.

CONDITION: This excellent
example of the Gibson Dove hails from 1973 and features a very nicely aged
natural finish on the top, with stunning curly maple back and sides sporting
the legendary red nitro Dove finish. The distinct inlay and paint on the
pickguard are completely intact and show only the slightest signs of play wear
and pick marks, mostly in the leaves underneath the mother of pearl Dove
sitting on the branch. The large pickguard is firmly attached to the body, but
two of its edges are very slightly lifting from the body – a VERY EASY repair. The
bridge is firmly attached to the top and shows no signs of lifting. The top,
back and sides show minimal finish checking, and have the usual markings and
small surface dings usually associated with a 37-year-old instrument, but there
is no mark which stands out and detracts from the natural beauty of this
guitar. The neck is very smooth and plays like butter, and the frets have
plenty of life left. Based on our inspection, and to the best of our knowledge,
this guitar has no breaks or repairs of any kind. Make no mistake, this guitar
has been played, but it has also been very well cared for. This beautiful
Gibson Dove is gorgeous in both appearance and playability. It’s going to make
its new owner very happy! The guitar comes with a non-original hardshell case.

Of course, additional pictures are
available on request. Also, you may call me direct if you’d like
to discuss the guitar and/or its purchase. In fact, I encourage you to call!
You can reach me at 615-613-1389. Email is fine, too, but I don’t sit
in front of my computer waiting for emails!

Please ask any and all questions BEFORE
placing a bid, as your bid is considered a binding contract and will be treated
as such should you change your mind for no apparent or worthwhile reason. That
said, I’m a pretty reasonable guy so don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions
or concerns, etc.

Please take the time and check out my
feedback to see what other people who’ve purchased musical instruments from me
think about their purchase and my service. YOU
WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED IN THIS INSTRUMENT OR TRANSACTION!!! You are dealing
with a very honest eBayer. What I describe is what you get!

And please check out my other auctions …
I’ve always got some great, rare instruments up for auction, including RARE
