Bigsby Prototype Electric Guitar Limited Edition BY48T

Do you want the tone of the old time guitar kings like Grady Martin, Merle Travis, Billy Byrd, Joe Maphis, or Hank Garland? Here is your chance. Up for auction is super rare limited edition Bigsby electric guitar model BY48T in excellent condition. It has been stored in its case since it was new so it still looks new. It has no fret wear and but for one small nick on the lower edge is in perfect condition. The guitar is set up perfect and plays like a dream with low action and the guitar stays in tune even with heavy use of the Bigsby Vibrato. It has a birdseye maple top and the body is chambered like the Original Paul Bigsby guitars made in the 1950's. The pickups are exact copies of the original Paul Bigsby pickups. The single cutaway design of the BY48T gets its look from the first electric guitar made by Paul Bigsby in the 50's for Merle Travis. The guitar has no issues, no problems and I'm only selling to pay bills.

Here are the specs:
BY48T: - ¼ inch Birdseye maple flat top with amber finish - maple body - hollow chambers in body - 24.7 inch scale - 21 medium jumbo frets - single florentine cutaway - walnut birdseye headstock w/12° pitch - in line Kluson style tuners - BIGSBY logo on headstock - scrolled black pickguard - mother of pearl playing card inlays on rosewood fretboard - set neck - 21 frets - polished Sorkin bridge base - tun-o-matic bridge w/mounted posts - 2 chrome control knobs vol/tone - 3 way selector switch on upper bout - 2 Bigsby single coil dog-ear style pickups - Bigsby B3 tailpiece.

Paul Bigsby sold the Bigsby company to Ted McCarty (former CEO of Gibson) in the 60's then Fred Gretsch Jr. purchased the Bigsby company in the 90's. After Gretsch acquired the Bigsby name they produced a very few, limited edition, prototype re-issue guitars  using many of the design features and ideas originally crafted by Paul Bigsby. Since Gretsch owned the Bigsby Company they were free to use the name and designs for guitars. When Gretsch purchased the Bigsby Company they also got all the original Bigsby templates and cast molds for the pickups, vibrato units etc. etc. Gretsch/Bigsby only made 24 of this model (BY48T) which makes this an instant collector's item. Gretsch does not make these guitars anymore and you rarely see them for sale. I have never seen another single cutaway model like this anywhere. They were not cheap new and they are not cheap now on the used market but if you want the best and you want a sound like no other guitar and you want an investment that will only increase in value over the years this is your guitar If you are a player that's into vintage twang, western swing, honky tonk, country, or rockabilly you know what these guitars are and the sound that they can produce. The guitar ships in the original hard case and comes with the original certificate. The guitar has a serial number in the control cavity and on the certificate. In order to prevent fraudulent listings, I will not e-mail or post the serial number so please don't ask.

If you want to know how this guitar sounds here is a link on You Tube of another Bigsby prototype guitar. It has a different body style (BY50) but the same pickups as the guitar I have so the sound is the same. The guitar in the video is not my guitar nor is it me playing. I just found the video on You Tube and linked it to my auction so you could hear how these Bigsby prototype re-isse guitars sound. Give it a listen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfPtOhmFaWc

Well thanks for looking  and good luck -- It's a great guitar.
