Gretsch Guitars

Up for sale is my Gretsch Double Anniversary Mono guitar, model # 6117. This model is arguably one of the most popular of the Gretsch lineup.

The serial # printed on the label inside the F soundhole is 59576. I’ve had two different sources try to date this Gretsch. The store I originally bought it from dated it to 1969. A friend of mine who’s forgotten more than I’ll ever know dates it to the earlier 60’s and maybe a 1963. I believe this is pretty much original with the exception of the pickguard which I believe is a replacement. In addition, a previous owner had torqued one of the screws down too hard on the guard and there is a crack on either side of that screw.

The guitar is in very good condition especially considering it is at least 41 years old and quite possibly more. This Gretsch just oozes that vintage vibe and mojo you can only get from a well played, quality built vintage guitar,The patina of this 'git is of  "Honest play wear "...used but in no way abused, and having the original palm vibrato and case intact..........Well, thats just to cool !!!.................Got knurl ?

As you can see, I have a 100% feedback rating. That didn’t happen by accident. I am truthful about my gear and try to disclose any issues (cosmetic or functional) that I’m aware of. Here’s what I see on this Gretsch:

-Small crack in the pickguard as noted above.

-Frets are a bit worn but is not in need of a fret job at this point. It will be at some point down the road as is true with most all guitars that are played.

-A large part of the binding was missing when I bought the guitar. I had this professionally repaired by my Luthier. He did a great job and aged the binding to make it consistent with the rest of the guitar.

-There are numerous light scratches primarily on the back of the guitar. Also on the back are two honest play wear spots that are worn through the finish (not through the wood). There are also several other much smaller spots on the back worn through the finish but not through the wood. Lastly, there is a small spot on the top of the headstock worn through the finish.

-Original HSC included in good condition. The latches are tarnished but all work well. Numerous tears in the tolex down to the wood. All in all, good condition.
