Click here to get eBay auction software at Auctiva.comI'm selling my Gretsch 6176 fretless A/E bass. It's a great bass and I know I shouldn't let it go but the itch for more is on me. This is the only one of it's kind I have ever seen. In fact it's the only brown Gretsch Acoustic bass I have ever seen. The model isn't very common to begin with. I believe they were only made in 90-92. The most common being the fretted orange version. Every once in a while one will pop up. The fretless model is almost non existant on the market at least. Since they were introduced I have only seen one. Someone must have a few somewhere. When the fretless came out many regarded it as the best acoustic/electric sounding bass available. Unfortunately Gretsch doesn't get recognized for it's quality as it should. I'm talking about the Japanese built guitars since they were introduction in 89. Gretsch used a phenolic fretboard on this model. Which surprised me, because until then phenolic-graphite composite was used mainly by builders like Modulas Graphite, Rick Turner and a few other high end adventurous people builders. I think that this material really adds to the upright bass quality of the sound. The fingerboard has no grooves in it. It's great shape. I have used Pyramid and American Flats on it. I liked the Pyramids but I think the American style flatwound has just a bit more point to an upright frequency. Coupled with this fingerboard and the jumbo acoustic body. Acoustically it has a good full sound but there isn't an acoustic bass guitar made that can keep with two acoustic guitars. Without some amplification. I have a detuner on it that works quite well. The scale 34" . It's a big bass, but comfortable to play. I don't find it to be neck heavy. It comes with the original hardshell case. The back and sides are maple and the top is Spruce. I believe the top is solid. There are a few very small dings on the top , but not easily seen. The back and sides are virtually new.Gold hardware. Ebony bridge The neck profile is a thin C shape. I love to play this thing. I know I will wish I still had it someday soon. AND, maybe no one will get it and I'll keep it. Happy bidding.
Winner. please contact me within 24 hours. No negative bidders. This is a large case, I prefer to ship to the continental US only. It's too long to ship USPS.
