When I started playing, it was 1964 and the Beatles were the reason I picked up a guitar in the first place. I haven't put it down since. back then, I wanted a Gretsch Country Gentleman, just like George's but it would be many years before I could afford one. They were very expensive guitars and not easy to get in a small town. This example is, in fact, a 64 and haas had a relatively easy life and looks it. It make a great addition to your "Beatles Wall" or to your collection of great rock icon guitars. Gretsch's from this era have big problems with their bindings because the glue used at the factory caused the celluloid binding to fall to pieces after a while. At the market peak, these were very expensive guitars but you can take advantage of the diminished market for these and save about 50% over what these were going for just a few years ago. This one doesn't have the problem with the bindings because the bindings were all replaced professionally and look very good. I would age them a bit since they look a little too new for the rest of the guitar and there are lots of easy ways to do this. Guitar could use a professional setup but is playable as is. I would also change the bridge as "bar" bridges are impossible to intonate. I'm not an expert when it comes to Gretsch's but this looks complete and original with the exception of the tuners. The tuners are Grover Imperials which I believe they stopped using on this guitar the previous year or maybe in 62. The mute pads are gone but easy to replace. I can post more photos if there's something in particular you would like to see. Being a true hollow body, the sound is big and broad. These are very versatile guitars and have been used by pro players for many years. The case is original and in very good shape. All latches function perfectly. Shipping will be $75 to the lower 48. Elsewhere, it will depend on where you are.
