OK, this is outfitted as a players guitar. I'm a part-time pro and purchased this only a few months ago from Sweetwater brand new. Here are the list of all upgrades. You'll quickly see why this is so much of a better deal than a new stock model:
1) TV Jones pickups. Classic in the neck and Classic Plus in the bridge. If you go to their site, you'll see that installation is an ordeal to say the least. Its already done and you benefit from my labor! $250 spent on the pickups plus all of the isntallation parts including pickup rings and the special blocks that go underneath the pickups to allow their installation. Note: due to the type if installation required, the pickups have only very minimal room to move. I believe they are currently ideally positioned, which is fairly close to the strings. With #4 below you can just back off the volume for a little less meat and output. Works really well.
2) A REAL sandcast aluminum Bigsby B7, not the far cheaper B70 that comes on the Pro Jet. $189 bridge.
3) Tru-Arc Stainless Steel bridge. This type of bridge is essential for both better Bigsby tuning stability and overall better tone. $129 accessory.
4) Treble retension circuit installed on the volume pot. Preseves your highs when you roll off the volume.
5) Dunlop Strap Locks installed. This doesn't sound like a big deal, BUT, some machining of the strap lock was necessary for it to fit inside of the Bigsby tailpiece at the end of the guitar.
5) Original Gretsch hardshel case. For whatever reason, you can't find these any less expensive than $179, and its the only hardshell case that fits the Pro Jet properly.
Condition is outstanding. I used it for only a few gigs. I dig the Gretsch vibe, but decided it was one too many guitars to cart to each gig. Currently strung with 11s, which still feel very slinky given the short scale of this guitar. Guitar plays out of this world - very good neck and nice fret work. Over $1200 invested (now you see why this is such a great deal).
Read my feedback, bid with confidence, questions always welcome.
