Here we have a 1965 Gretsch Firebird (semi-hollow). A great example. Pictures pretty much speak for themselves. The top of the body and headstock have considerable checking but in a very cool way. Gives it that neat vintage vibe. This is most easily seen in the headstock picture. The body has about the same amount of crazing but it's hard to capture. Some belt buckle rash on the back of the body. There are two dings on the top: one between the upper bout toggles and one just below the tremolo arm. Both are about 1/8" diameter. I've tried to capture them. Otherwise she's all original including the case and papers (not often seen for sure!). Action is low, frets still have some meat on them but they are original and were low profile to begin with. She is a great guitar but I never got around to having her set up. That said I believe she needs it but then so do I after 45 years. The neck is fine though, or I should say to the best of my knowledge. I've had lots and lots of guitars so I think I can state that without any reservation that with dialing in this should be a GREAT vintage piece. Pick-ups are Super Trons. The blades provide a larger magnetized surface area,
providing greater inductance. The resulting tone retains the classic
clarity you'd expect from a Gretsch. Tuners have some slippage and will need tending to but I don't know of any of this type and vintage that don't have issues. She's semi-hollow so she couldn't be any lighter. I haven't weighed her but I'd say she's in the 6ish lbs. area. Very light indeed.
I've shipped lots of guitars as I'm always up-grading to the perfect
piece of wood. I prefer FedEx since they have done better by me (Still
pissed off at UPS for losing a cabinet, never making good on the claim
and then there was the 64 AC30 they threw off a roof or something.
Suffice it to say it didn't survive. Jackwagon's!). U.S. shipping will
be a flat rate, all over-sea's parties including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico please inquire before bidding. Additional shipping insurance if desired will be extra to the buyer.
Please make
sure you ask all questions before bidding as all bids / purchases are
final. I do make sure all payments transfer out of the hands of PayPal
and into my bank account before shipping (which has generally taken 3 to
4 days). There have been some problems with fraud regarding this so
I'm just being safe. Don't want it to happen again.
Good luck and happy hunting!!!
