Get your "Ticket to Ride" . . .
. . . with this Gretsch Tennessee Rose hollow body guitar.
Up for bid is a 2005 model G6119 1962-HT Tennessee Rose based on the early '60s Chet Atkins Tennessean. Some of the most recognizable tracks in pop music history were recorded with the Tennessean, including several classic Beatles songs from the early to mid '60s. George Harrison wielded his during the Beatles' legendary 1965 Shea Stadium concert, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mUXwnEWEnE), and Hilton Valentine of the Animals created that classic moody tone with his Tennessean on their rendition of "House of the Rising Sun." (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmdPQp6Jcdk). If you are trying to get the sound of the "British Invasion," this is the guitar you want.
But you don't have stop there, as it is also a great one for rockabilly, blues and jazz. In fact, I would venture to say it is one of the most versatile guitars available in the market.
I am the original owner and love this guitar, but I have to sell it due to economic hardship. It is in nearly mint condition with an almost flawless finish (only very light, nearly imperceptible surface scratches in the clear coat, not into the stain or wood). It has a little chrome oxidation typical of the model and very light fret/fingerboard wear, as it has been played very little. It has been well cared for and will not disappoint, either in looks or sound. I would rate this guitar an easy 9.5 out of 10.
Specifications: Deep cherry/burgundy stain finish, two Hilo-Tron single-coil pickups, Neo-Classic ebony fingerboard with mother-of-pearl half-moon thumbnail inlays set off to the side so as not to detract from the classic feel and tone, Bigsby vibrato tailpiece, adjustable "floating" bridge, pickup selector switch, master tone selector switch, master volume knob, front and rear pickup volume knobs, standby switch, original hardshell locking case with "Gretsch" nameplate, original key and truss rod tool, and all original paperwork.
The latest version of this guitar has an MSRP of over $3,000 (http://www.gretschguitars.com/products/index.phppartno=2401314866), so this a steal on an instrument of this quality at the minimum bid price ... or even at the "Buy it Now" price! Shipping and handling is a flat $80.00 in the U.S., fully insured for the selling price, and it will ship in its original Gretsch factory box (see photo).
