Up for auction is a wonderful piece of Gretsch (and guitar) history. Created in the mid-30's, the Gretsch Guitar corporation released the Model 40 "Hawaiian" slide guitar in response to the Hawaiian slide guitar craze that was sweeping the nation at the time. This particular guitar is in wonderful shape for her age. As the pictures of the upper and lower bout show, she has some wear and tear on her as any guitar of roughly 70 years of age would! Beyond the minor cosmetic dings, she is in remarkable shape and has a magnificent tone that only years of age and playing can do to old wood. The headstock alone is a work of art! She has a very tall nut and no frets as she was designed for slide. She also comes with what I believe to be the original hard case! Please see the pictures and realize they do not do her any justice.
I have been an ebayer for years, have shipped very expensive guitars many times with a perfect safety record, so bid confidently!
