You are looking at a very clean genuine VINTAGE 1964 Gretsch Jet Firebird in Oriental Red. It is not a reissue, its the real deal.
This model is the one that Malcolm Young of ACDC has made famous.
It has a double Cutaway body, two Filter-Tron humbucking pickups, two volume controls plus master volume, pickup and tone selector switch stand by switch, Burns vibrato system, stright (the original bar bridge with rosewood base is in the case), black plastic Gretsch pickguard with Gretsch logo. Black finish on back and sides, ebony neo classic fingerboard with thumb print inlays, T Roof Gretsch logo on the headstock and gold plated hardware.
The guitar has G arrow knobs, switches, pickup covers and rings, strap buttons, grover sta-tites tuners with oval buttons
Serial number is 65687 and is placed on both sides of the control access plate, engraved on the outside and on the Gretsch label inside.
The finish is in very clean condition on both back and top with the only visible traces of time being some gold plating wear and some lacquer checking on the head stock front as well as the odd small mark, but nothing significant.
The guitar comes with its original Gretsch Jet Firebird case in exceptional condition, all latches work and have corroded somewhat as you would expect.
I purchased this guitar in 2002 from Real Vintage Guitars in Sicily after an extensive search that took a number of years. Most of these guitars are in very poor condition. This one was very clean but needed a refret to be perfectly playable again. As well the bridge was not doing the guitar justice so I had that upgraded as well. I still have the old bridge in the case as well as the tremelo arm. I have a written appraisal of the guitar at the time of purchase. It is fully original, apart from the refret and the bridge, all of which improved its playability significantly. There is a great deal of life in this guitar now and its just waiting to be plugged into a Marshall.
Overall, a pretty good example of a famous guitar and you wont see too many of these genuine vintage models in Australia or anywhere else for that matter.
