I have a 1969 Gretsch Chet Atkins Tennessee electric guitar in excellent condition. My wifes Grandfather purchased this from a guitar outlet in 1970.I have had it and played it (gingerly) for about 4 years. Everything works and sounds perfect-perfect. Comes with Marshall guitar strap, and the original case it came in. it has been kept in a controlled environment.I have played since 1976 and this has that Great Aerosmith/Ted Nugent sound. I am selling this only because we have some financial obligations to deal with. Serious inquiries only .NO looky-loose ect.Cash or paypal.com accepted.I can send more photos upon request.
Features:
If you are into fingerstyle guitar as I am, you definitely have to try one of the Gretsch Chet Atkins models. The Gretsch Tennessee Rose is a great guitar for both the advanced student or the seasoned professional.
This guitar has all of the features that you will want in a great fingerstyle guitar. But be fooled into thinking that it is only for fingerstyle. This guitar also makes a great flat pick style guitar as well. After all George Harrison used one for many recordings and live performances in his stint with the Beatles.
I love everything on the Gretsch Tennessee Rose from the minimal fingerboard markings in the ebony fingerboard to the sweet sounding Filter'tron pickups and all of the subtleties you can get out of this guitar.
Sound Production:
Ok I admit it, I love that "Great Gretsch Sound" and I have had several Gretsch guitars over the course of my musical carrier. I still have a '70's Gretsch SuperChet in mint condition that I still play often.
The sound production that you get out of the Gretsch Tennessee Rose guitar is unmatched by any other guitar. It is woody and is very versatile
Action:
The people at Gretsch do a great job of setup on their guitars. The nuts do not have to be touched because they install a zero fret on most of their guitar. Very smart. The nut is the hardest adjustment to make on an electric guitar.
If the action is not to your taste on the bridge end of things it is a very simple matter to adjust upward or downward.
Usually they come from the factory perfectly setup and rarely need any adjustment.
Durability:
Like I said, my Gretsch SuperChet is over 30 years old and it still looks like brand new. It could be hanging on the wall in a music shop. There are no cracks, finish imperfections, delamination or any other complaints that I could make about the Gretsch Tennessee Rose.
Overall Impression:
The Gretsch Tennessee Rose is one of the best fingerstyle guitars you will ever put you hands on. It has all of the features that you can imagine and will stand up to the rigors of being on the road.
The appointments on the Gretsch Tennessee Rose guitar are well thought-out and everything looks great on the assembled guitars. I love the color combinations that Gretsch used on this guitar and the choice of hardware.
The sound production is beautiful and it has a deep Chet Atkins type sound
If you are an advanced music student or seasoned professional guitarist, this guitar will more than meet anything you want to tackle. I give the Gretsch Tennessee Rose my highest marks.
