GRETSCH WHITE PENGUIN. 1996. PRISTINE CONDITION. NOS.
Description
GRETSCH WHITE PENGUIN1996PRISTINE CONDITION.PLEASE READ FIRST:[Just a note. Everyone has an opinion. I respect that, but please DO NOT EMAIL me with your personal opinion about the prices of my guitars being “too high” and “more than book value”. I consider that to be rude. I am not forcing anyone to buy these instruments. All of them come from my personal collection and the prices listed reflect their quality and uniqueness. I only bought the best so I am only selling the best and my reason for selling these pieces is simple-this is my hobby-not my business. If I have made a factual error, I do appreciate being made aware of that. Thanks.] PLEASE LOOK AT MY OTHER ADS FOR THE MATCHING WHITE FALCON.ABOUT THE WHITE PENGUIN:You are bidding on an NOS (New Old Stock), WHITE PENGUIN , MODEL G6134 reissue from 1996. It remains in PRISTINE CONDITION. Please see the photos posted here to determine for yourself its condition. The only exception to its Pristine condition is the slight curling of the gold metallic overlays on the back of the guitar. I am not sure if this was intended as part of their "relic recreation" or simply bad glue. I will leave it up to the buyer to fix or leave these covers.I've always been a bit conflicted about the place of reissues in the secondary guitar market. Certainly, the Gibson Moderne reissue has increased significantly in value as well as several other models. But does that apply to this guitar? I think it does if you agree with the supposition that guitars made anywhere, including outside of the USA, over the past twenty years have continually declined in workmanship, quantity built has increased, or that an instrument built in 1996 actually plays better than a current one. Or, if you are buying on the assumption that a NOS 1996 Gretsch Penguin guitar will continue to increase in value over the next decade(s), then you are already ahead of the upward curve by buying the "oldest" new guitar you can. It's a bit like buying value appreciation (certainly these guitars do not depreciate) that he guitar has already earned (accrued). But, either way, this is a great guitar and the price is very good in my opinion. I follow the principle of LOP (Law of One Price) with regard to my guitars. There is only one price. If it sells for that price, I am happy. If it does not sell for that price, I am happy. Which is too say, I will avoid relisting this guitar at a lower price should it not sell at this price-so no need to wait around to "see what happens".
