Here's a neat Hofner Hi-Fi les paul custom type, with a chambered (Spruce?) body and Maple neck. The black body finish shows quite a bit of weather checking, so I'd have to rate the overall condition at 75--80%. The neck was recently refretted by McKee Guitars in Ottowa, Il, w/ jumbo frets (the orginals were worn down to mere nubs), producing a very playable instrument. The pickups shown are Bill Lawrence 500's, mounted in a custom-made pickguard; the original rosewood-covered p-90-style HiFi pickups and original pickguard are also included. The Lawrences make this axe sound very Gretsch-y, while the HiFis make it sound more like a Rick. It's great for 60s, British Invasion music (which we don't do so much). Have also added Kluson Waffleback pegs (orginal pegs are also included). Original (?) hardshell case is part of the sale. Shipping is FREE to lower 48 United States, more elsewhere.
On 8/24 I added pix taken in full sun to show the finish checks: I think they exagerate the checking; ignore the reflections of clouds, etc on the surface of the guitar...
