I'm selling an all original 1962 Gretsch Country Gentleman with OHSC (Serial No 47607). This is NOT A REISSUE but an all original 1962 made famous by George Harrison of the Beatles as well as many other musicians of the day! My father left this guitar to me a couple of years ago and it still plays and looks wonderful! The neck is straight and the hardware is all original. The tone is astounding! This is one of the most sought after Gretsch's ever made!
I had listed this item on ebay a few months ago but agreed to sell to a local buyer but the money never came through so serious buyers only! Buyer pays shipping.
Details: As stated above, this is an all original guitar. The guitar is in very good condition but there are some minor nicks and wear indicative of being played. The neck is straight and I just had the frets redressed about 10 months ago so they are in perfect condition. All hardware works although the pot in one of the volume knobs does need some cleaning. It doesn't make noise or anything, but when adjusting the volume, sometimes you have to twist it a couple of times. I am not a techy person so I'd rather have someone who knows what they're doing clean it. As I state below, I took this into Rock & Roll Vintage guitars but didn't think to have them clean it. It's a very mild issue.
There is one screw-on knob that is missing (pictured on pic #8) but it is only the cosmetic piece that screws onto the switch and doesn't affect the swich itself.
The pickup selector works fine but is a little loose.
The bindings are in very good condition for a 50 year old guitar. There is a small crack (also pictured) on the top part of the 12th fret but it does not affect the playability and the bindings are not separating at all. I took this guitar in to Rock and Roll Vintage Guitars in Chicago 10 months ago to get the frets dressed and do a "once over" and they saw no problems with this guitar. I have the receipt for this I will send with the guitar detailing what I've had done to it.
The Mutes are original and work just fine.
I have LOTS of pics I already have of this guitar so please ask if you need to see something that hasn't been shown. This is a guitar that has been used and has been played so there is some wear and scratches in the finish but this guitar has always been well taken care of! I will answer any questions to the best of my ability so please ask! I really love this guitar but it's time for me to give up some of the Gretsch's from my collection, although this will be the hardest to give up. It is worth much more than the reserve.
Good luck and happy bidding!!
