You never see these Historic Series guitars up for sale. Must be a sign of the times! For sale today we have this way cool Gretsch Historic Series G3900 Synchromatic Archtop in the unreal Vintage Sunburst finish. This is the line of guitars that Fred Gretsch III brought out to revive the brand before the deal was made with Fender. They were quickly phased out of the line and are hard to find. This guitar is as beautiful to play and hear as it is to look at. It is a completely hollow archtop with medium depth and is fitted with a mini humbucker attached to the end of the fingerboard. A volume and tone control are mounted to the bound tortoise pickguard in true "jazzbox" style. This guitar has a 24 3/4" scale length and has been freshly restrung and is set-up with low action. The frets and fingerboard show no wear. The guitar has been played but shows hardly any signs of it. There are minute swirls from being wiped down after playing but you have to look for them. The only cosmetic(cosmetic only) flaw is the discolored finish under the clear on the headstock. It is pictured. This guitar has no breaks, cracks, or dings thru the finish. Check the pictures and ask any questions you may have. It truly is a great guitar that is sure to be the one to have in the future given the short time they were offered and when they were offered. This guitar was made in Korea not China like the Electromatics offered today. The Gretsch Historic Series represents the most extensive new guitar introduction in the company's 116 year history. All the designs are from guitars made between 1930 and 1950 with classic styling, modern playability and new features. There will be 26 guitars in ten different styles in this first run. The ten styles include five acoustic styles: Hawaiian, Grand Concert, Dreadnought, Sierra Jumbo and Resonator. Some of these guitars will be equipped with Fishman acoustic pickup systems. Finishing out the line are three archtop electric Synchromatic models, the acoustic electric Streamliner and the Jet Mainliner lap steel. Many innovations and patented designs are introduced with these guitars with the Synchromatic archtop guitars going with the patented stairstep bridge. The acoustic electric have the Cat's eye sound hole that Gretsch came up with in the 1930's. The Hawaiian Deluxe brings back a 50-year old look. The Gretsch Company at P.O.
