Gretsch Duo Jet

Posted March 11, 2010 by in | No comments yet

Gretsch's first solid-body electric guitar the Duo Jet debuted in 1954 with the Silver Jet and Roundup now a highly priced collectable guitar this reissue duplicates the looks, playability and sound of these classic 50's guitars. This reissue of the 1957 Duo Jet captures the style and features of the first generation of Gretsch semi-solid body electric guitars first introduced in 1954.

8c883016415dfc9f6d269f45454d1abe Gretsch Duo Jet

The most noticeable differences are the headstock and pickups. Thinner than later versions of the Duo Jet, this headstock accented the overall slim flavor of the guitar's design. Dynasonic pickups were used during this pre-FilterTron era. These single coil adjustable pickups (also known as "Dynasonic") give the guitar it distinctive tone reminiscent of the era. The Silver Jet is also available in a 1957 reissue, with or without the tailpiece.

Gretsch New G7690 Super Gretsch Reissue

Posted March 11, 2010 by in | No comments yet

Description:

The new Gretsch "Super Gretsch" is an update of the popular Super Chet electric guitar of the 1970s. Bringing back the classic Gretsch guitars of the past has been a goal of Fred Gretsch Enterprises and the model G7690 adds to that impressive list.

d2cffc576caca7828a300c8a77a1b703 Gretsch New G7690 Super Gretsch ReissueThe "Super Gretsch" is known for its unique double cutaway body. This distinctive shape allows better access to higher frets while maintaining the pleasant single cutaway look. Its beauty is enhanced by the complex pearl inlay on the neck and headstock and the multiple binding.

The guitar is not, however, an exact reproduction of the original. Several refinements to the original design have been made. On the original guitar, the volume and tone controls were mounted on the pickguard, innovative, but not convenient for all players. The new 7690 incorporates a more standard configuration of volume controls for each pickup, a master tone control, pickup selector switch and Gretsch's trademark master volume control.

The "Super Gretsch" bound fingerboard is a work of art, with its choice ebony and intricate pearl inlay. Its 25 1/2" scale neck is made of two layers of rock maple divided by a distinctive thin black line.

Other features include gold plated hardware, two FilterTron double coil pickups, Bigbsy vibrato tailpiece and beautiful detail on the binding, purfling, and inlay work.
