OLD VINTAGE
GRETSCH Floating Sound Unit
aka FSU (Tuning Fork Bridge) for Gretsch White Falcon and Viking electric
guitars made circa 1965, 1966, 1967, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973.

 Here
is a used vintage bridge piece for the higher priced classic Gretsch Hollow Body
guitars. This unit was traded in to us many years ago and is an extra part we
don't need. Some people may think these bridges were not an advantage for the
players of the guitars they appeared on as many of the owners promptly took them
off. But believe me, love em' or hate 'em .... if you are missing one of these
on your guitar, don't even try to sell your guitar without it.
Everybody wants a White Falcon or Viking
with ALL of the correct parts. All collectors discount for parts missing
off of these guitars. Your Gretsch guitar could as much as DOUBLE in value by
reinstalling this part so your guitar would be authentic again! Bonus feature:
If you have one on the guitar, it actually does add noticeable sustain. Come by
our shop and hear a 1967 White Falcon sustain as only a fully original equipped
model can. We have no tuning problems with the FSU.  This is because the
patented "T zone tempered tuning scale" incorporated in this era instrument
corrects for most intonation problems.  But even if you keep it in the case
and not on the guitar it will be there to enhance the value at sale time. The
FSU has the original gold plating and wear of that plating equal to the age of
this device. THE FSU is COMPLETE. No other parts are required to mount this
on your Gretsch guitar. We include a bonus spare string muffler, two screws and two green felts
as seen in the pictures below. Yes.. We ship world wide.

Some history on this device: In late 1965 early 1966 the
Gretsch White Falcon and Viking models gained the "Amazing Gretsch Floating
Sound Unit," a tuning fork which was dangled down into the body of the guitar
near the bridge in a design effort to increase resonance and sustain. Most were
promptly removed, (and lost by their owners) as they made the Guitar of Kings
difficult to replace strings and set up. Actually it is no harder to put strings
on these guitars with a FSU that any newer model Kahler or Floyd Rose Tremelo
system.

GretschPages.com reference says: Floating Sound Unit:
The Gretsch Floating Sound Unit (AKA Tuning Fork Bridge) was a late '60s bid to
accentuate harmonics and increase sustain. A regular bridge was fitted behind
the FSU to control string spacing.  Floating Sound Units were wildly
unpopular and have often been removed, but no less an authority than Chet Atkins
believed that a properly set-up Floating Sound Unit really worked.  See an
old factory brochure about this bridge unit here:  http://gretschpages.com/history/memorabilia/1965-floating-sound-unit-brochure/
