Gretsch Guitars

Here is an excellent player's guitar! It a mid-80's custom-shop Carvin solid Koa DC200 guitar. It has top of the line features and is truly a professional instrument. It's been played and is literally covered in tiny nicks, dings and scratches. It has lots of 'worming' or buckle-rash on the back. The good news is that none of this wear is deep and in my humble opinion adds to rather than detracts from the vintage, player vibe.

This guitar sounds good even w/o pickups. It has good tone & sustain. It's one of the 'good' ones... y'know go to a music store and play 3 or 4 SGs that are identical... maybe it'll take 5 or 6 but there's gonna be one of em that sounds & feels good before you even plug it in. This is THAT guitar!

It's original pickups have been removed and someone has routed (or carved out) a 3rd middle pickup route. So this guitar has TONS of mojo and potential. You can install any type/brand or combo of pickups you'd like. In fact, since there are many brands that make humbucker-sized P-90s you can even wire up a combo of single-coils and humbuckers. Plenty of space in the electronics cavity so you could install active pickups like EMGs or Duncan actives... hell even run em at 18-volts if you want since you could easily fit 2 9-volts in there.

Noteworthy features:

• 24-fret ebony fretboard
• Schaller tuners
• MOP Block inlays
• Heel-less set-neck that feels indistinguishable from neck-thru
• 3 humbucker-sized pickup cavities
• Schaller heavy-duty bridge with BRASS saddles & fine-tuners
• 2 Vol / 2 Tone controls plus mini-switches for phase-switching and coil-tapping
• 2 output jacks for stereo or mono output

The pots, switches and ouput jacks can be left as-is or completely reconfigured to fit your own custom setup to go with your pickup configuration.

The neck is straight (even relief) and even though the frets have wear there's lot's of life left in them. This guitar would be completely playable with a minimum of work. Install even just 1 pickup ( ala Malcolm Young's touring Gretsch that he's played live for 30+ years) and you've got a rock'n'roll machine. Install 3 and do some custom wiring and you've  got a veritable aresenal in 1 guitar!!

I'm also amazed at how light this guitar is. I haven't weighed it but it's among the lightest guitars I've ever played. I'd guess 5-6lbs. Of course it is pickup bare right now heheheh.

This is a 1983-1987 model due it's serial number and Schaller bridge (which they introduced in 1983) and they went from set-neck to neck-thru construction in 1988:

All in all this is an AMAZING guitar!! It's limited only by your imagination. It could ultimately be many different things depending on your vision. I just have too many projects and I'm facing a 2000+ mile cross-country move... otherwise... I'd realize my own vision with it.
