for sale is this vintage '57 Gretsch Rambler 6115 (serial # 252XX)
complete with Gretsch hardshell case.

The Gretsch Rambler was only produced for a few years in a very limited run
(1957-1962). This guitar dates from the first year of production.

This is a 3/4 size hollowbody electric guitar with true f-holes. It has a
comfortable 23" scale and comes loaded with a single DeArmond pickup in
the neck position. It has a creamy Lotus Ivory-finished top and Jet Black back,
sides and neck. As with all Ramblers built up to 1960, it has a sharp
Florentine cutaway body (after 1960 a Venetian cutaway was introduced and the
DeArmond was swapped out for a Hi-Lo Tron pickup). The neck has quite a full profile and is topped with a rosewood fretboard. The moveable bridge
is also rosewood. Chrome parts include a "G"-cutout tailpiece and
"G"-indent control knobs. An idiosycratic Rambler appointment is the
red truss-rod cover and red-insert in the "G"-cutout tailpiece.

This guitar is in very good condition for its vintage age. It has some finish checking and a few nicks that would be expected for a 50+ year old guitar. It plays very easily... the short scale would really suit a player with smaller hands or perhaps someone with hand/wrist/tendon issues. The guitar has a tone that belies its
small size. The DeArmond pickup certainly lives up to its reputation. Note: I have recently learned that the case, while an original vintage Gretsch case, was not made specifically for the Rambler (it was probably designed for a Duo-Sonic).
